We have just returned having had a delightful stay in Carcassonne in the townhouse with a lovely roof terrace. Jason, the owner, picked us up from the airport and brought us to the door, making us feel very welcome.
The house has everything you could possibly need for your stay and I was also pleased we did not need to go out and get coffee and tea, oils, salt and other condiments as they were already there. The little shop on the corner provided for milk, cheese, eggs, butter and bread etc and we did not need to venture further. Everything was nice and clean and the beds comfy.
We particularly loved the rooftop terrace.
The view was delightful and we were so close to the Cite too. The road we stayed on is mentioned several times in the novel Labyrinth by Kate Mosse (well worth a read).
The Cite itself is magnificent and we found ourselves drawn to it every day, even with the steep climb it had to be done. If you cannot manage the climb then go into the new town and by the station near the canal, you will see a white train which runs a circular route from Cite to town every 30 minutes. You can get on and off at certain points for 3 euros and it saves you the steep walk. I could go on to expand about the sights and experiences on offer in this wonderful place but I will add that to the other sites for those attractions. Needless to say we will return and thoroughly recommend a stay at this delightful townhouse. Thanks Jason for your hospitality too and your patience with the washing machine!
